Nellie tilted her head as the bell chimed again. She was vaugely suprised at how quiet it had been, but seeing Toby had helped. Perhaps she was just getting paranoid... Understandable, of course, but still.

The Beadle, after visiting Sweeney upstairs, noticed that Mrs. Lovett had returned. He then proceeded to walk into the store with out knocking or really doing anything.
"Good Evening, Mrs. Lovett" He said with that smile of his that creeps most people out around town. He strode into the shop, looking around. "Mind if I do a quick inspection? I won't take long, promise" He said, somewhat lying. It would take a little while for him to do the shop and bake house, especially if he found something. He looked to his right and saw a little boy. Must be that one Sweeney was talking about. Toby is name was. He sure didn't look drunk. He was wondering what he was doing there and, unintentionally glared at him

Toby was just sitting in the shop waiting for a favor to do for Mrs. Lovett when all of a sudden the bell chimed. He was surpised that there was actually a customer. Then...he heard who it was.
He figured he should probably leave the room but, he decided to wait untill Mrs. Lovett told him to. That was...until he saw the glare he was getting for the recently arrived Beadle Bamford. After seeing that, he fled the room

Nellie returned the Beadle's smile with one to freeze the Devil's thought. "Well, dear, I'm sure ya can look 'round the shop but 'm afraid tha' I misplaced the key ta the bake'ouse for the time bein'..." She looked back to where Toby had escaped to... She'd let him stay, but hoped that he would come if called. She was skateing on thin ice, she was.

When the Beadle saw the smile that Mrs. Lovett gave him, he was quite spooked. When he heard her say that he couldn't look in the bakehouse, he was starting to get suspicious. "You don't know where the key to the bake house is?" He said, questioning in a convincing tone. He looked at his watch. "How are you going to cook the pies? It is 6 already." He said, trying to see if she was lying.
But, he did have a point. You can't cook pies if you can't get to the bakehouse.

Nellie replied, a hand on her hip and a hand on the counter. One brandished a washcloth. "I expected ta be ou' shoppin' for the whole day, truth be told. I 'ad the key wif me when I wos out, I neva leave wifout it, an' I musta jus' left it a' the market." A plausible excuse, to be sure. She pointed to the window where the "closed" sign was still flipped up, "We planned ta be closed the whole day, any'ow." It would mean that they'd have to skip on an evening's profits, but it would be worth it...
Why on Earth hadn't Sweeney "polished him off" when he had the chance?!

"Oh, I see Mrs. Lovett. I do need to look in the bakehouse though. Turpin should have a key to it. He has one to most stores around here." He said, once again lying through his teeth. It really came in handy that he was a good liar.
She was giving him an odd look of sorts like she was in deep thought or something of the sort

Nellie, more than skilled at lieing herself, shrugged, "If 'e could give me a copy then, tha'd be wondaful." She gave him that smile again, knowing full well that she'd changed the lock enough times in the past few months to give him trouble, even if he did have a key. "You're more 'an free ta look 'round the shop, 'o course."

The Beadle was having enough of this whole thing so, he got mad. "Mrs. Lovett, I need to look in the bakehouse before I leave. If I cannot, I will have to shut your shop down." He said, he wasn't going to let her get off the hook with whatever she was hiding down there.
He started looking around the shop. Swept the table with his finger and found no dust. Then he looked down and saw something crawl across his toe. It was a bug. "Uh, Mrs. Lovett, do you happen to have a bug problem" He said, facing her.

Nellie's mind was whirring, though to all apperances she was cool as ever. She needed to come up with something, and fast. "Tha's all very well, sir, bu' I really cannot 'elp ya taday... I 'ave 'eard strange thing's 'bout Misses Moonie's, though. 'Ave you, sir?" She gave him an incredulus look, as though if he didn't know that he wasn't doing his job. She may have been making it up, she might not have. Either way, it might work...
The confronted Baker shrugged slightly, walking over to him with a glass of ale, "I've been tryin' ta get rid o' 'em for quite some time now, actually." She stepped on the offending beetle heavily. "D'ya 'ave any ideas, sir?"

Sweeney walked downstairs from his shop and entered the pie shop, where he saw the Beadle standing at Mrs. Lovett's counter. He walked up behind the Beadle, and joined the conversation.
"Yes sir, Why don't you run down to Mrs. Moonie's pie shop for now, and come back in a week or so, when we have found the key to the bakehouse. When you return, I would be happy to offer you and perhaps the Judge, another free shave" He said as he put a hand on the Beadle's shoulder, trying to lead the Beadle towards the door.

The beadle had already been to Mrs. Moonies. He didn't find anything suspicious there. He really had no idea how they could get into the bakehouse without having a key now. If you had lost a key then, most normal people would be freaking out. Something is not right.
He moved away from Sweeney's hand on his back. "Thank you but, no thank you. I have already been there. Actually I was there right before I came to Mr. Todd's shop." He said, politley.
"Also, Mrs. Lovett. I had seen up in Mr. Todd's shop a blue crate that had quite the amount of blood in it. He said you store things in it. May I ask what?"

This made her annoyed- everybody knew that Mrs. Moonie used cats! She didn't say anything, though made mental notes to figure out a way to blame her next time... In the mean time, she needed a front on why she wasn't freaking out over the "lost" key. She looked around on her counter and frowned, putting her arms on her hips, "Mista T, 'ave ya seen my purse?" She clicked her tounge, "Always loosin' things, I swear..." She gave Sweeney a slightly meaningful look before going back to looking for the "lost" purse. Hopefully he would get the hint.
Nellie tilted her head, as though wondering which trunk he meant, "Atch! Ya mean tha' one? Well, t'wos 'ere when I got the place, Sir. Who knows wot them Barka's wos doin' up there..." She shook her head in disbelief. Perhaps he'd buy it... "I used ta store clothes in there, bu' when Mista T. moved in, I 'ad ta make room."

Sweeney looked back at Lovett, a bit confused, but he thought he knew what to do. "Maybe Toby has left it somewhere" He said calmly "you know you are always sending that lad out on errands, he could have misplaced it somewhere around the shop.".
He then looked back at the Beadle, who seemed to be getting impatient. "Sir, I really do think it would be wise of you to come back at a better time. Mrs. Lovett here, has misplaced her key.... once again, and it will take us some time to relocate it. After all, there are other people in London who may be in need of the Beadle's services, and I would not want to distract you from your other duties. I think, the... honorable Judge Turpin would not appreciate that." He shrugged after saying that, he did not like having to address the Judge as "honorable", however so as not to lead the Beadle on and out of common respect.

The beadle sighed. Apparently Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett thought he was stupid. He knew that they had to have a key and he had never seen Mrs. Lovett carry a pure before either. He guessed that he would just come back the next time the shop was open because that meant that they had to get to the bake house.
"Yes sir, I guess you do have a point there. Since, like you said, the Honorable Judge Turpin is out of town, I have been noticing a bit more of a demand for me. Well, thank you mam" He said, nodding to Mrs. Lovett "And thank you sir" He said, obviously directing it at Sweeney. With that, he left the shop. He was quite dissatisfied with his visit there. He pulled out a clipboard and marked off 'need to see again' under her shop. He was NOT about to let her get away with anything she was trying to hide. Whatever it may be.
